Douglas D. Hawthorne, LFACHE, became Founding Chief Executive Officer Emeritus of Texas Health Resources on Sept. 1, 2014,upon stepping down as CEO. Texas Health is one of the nation’s largest faith-based, nonprofit health systems. Over the course of his 44-year career, Hawthorne profoundly influenced how health care is delivered in the U.S., demonstrating leadership and vision in helping make care safer, more affordable and more accessible. His most significant contributions are his roles in creating and sustaining Texas Health Resources and in leading the system’s transformation into a nationally recognized integrated health care system.
Hawthorne was listed among Modern Healthcare magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in Health Care” nine times. He is a member of the Texas Business Hall of Fame and has received numerous industry and community awards. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Trinity University, and serves Trinity as chair of the board of trustees.
