Dr. Todd Fruchterman

Dr. Todd M. Fruchterman is President and Chief Executive Officer at Butterfly Network. . As both a physician and a leader in medical technology, he has dedicated his career to promoting health and wellness through innovation. He joined the company in 2021, and will lead Butterfly as it enters the public market, remaining focused on the company’s core mission of enabling universal access to superior medical imaging by making high quality ultrasound affordable, easy-to-use, globally accessible and intelligently connected.

Dr. Fruchterman spent nearly ten years of his career at 3M Company (“3M”) where he held multiple roles, most recently as the President and General Manager of Medical Solutions at 3M, the largest division in the company, where he delivered transformational acquisitions and achieved global above-market, profitable growth. In his 23-year career, Dr. Fruchterman also held leadership positions at Kinetic Concepts, Inc., and Response Genetics, Inc., holding the positions of President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Operating Officer. He also has held various positions at Johnson & Johnson, leading worldwide biosurgical R&D for the Ethicon division; Schering-Plough. Most recently, he was Group President, Reliability Solutions at Flex.

Dr. Fruchterman’s broad-based experience spans the clinical, scientific, regulatory and business arenas. In industry he has focused on creating value in businesses with a passion for creative problem solving, innovation and excellence in execution, and has successfully commercialized and scaled disruptive technologies throughout his career.

Dr. Fruchterman holds 11 patents, has served on the board of directors of AdvaMed, and in 2019, was a core participant in the U.S. Department of HHS Deputy Secretary’s Innovation and Investment Summit. He is also a business advisor at Spindletop Capital, LLC and has served on the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics Executive Advisory Board, the Executive Committee of BioMed SA of San Antonio, the Board of Directors for LifeScience Alley and the Board of Directors of the Texas Life Science Center.

He received his Bachelor of Arts in Biological Basis of Behavior and Medical Doctorate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, and his Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Louisville, Kentucky.
